President's Message

Relentless Pursuit of
Material Excellence

President and CEO Shinichi Tatsuta

Before I knew it, our company had built a history spanning more than a century. I grew up surrounded by an environment where essential products for daily life were manufactured using our materials. The sight of massive shipments of raw materials, the energy of machines and workers, the focused eyes of researchers, and salespeople striving to achieve their targets—these scenes were part of my childhood. With changing times, the social environment evolved, and production bases moved overseas in search of cheaper labor, resulting in an overflow of textile products. The world I knew as a child had transformed completely.

The cycle of mass production, mass consumption, and mass disposal has significantly impacted the global environment. Rising temperatures, droughts, wildfires, and catastrophic disasters of unprecedented scale have become all too common worldwide. Such an environment cannot persist, and I feel strongly that as a company, we must take on significant challenges and fulfill our responsibilities to strive for sustainable social and economic activities. The current environment is a result of the chain of economic activities. Just as there have been groundbreaking technologies that have overturned societal norms in the past, I believe that the material industry has the power to change our current circumstances. "Materials can change the world." With this ambitious vision, I hope to take on this challenge together with our partners.

In a rapidly changing market environment, we have been able to continue our business for over a century due to our "Relentless Pursuit of Material Excellence." We believe that this dedication ultimately contributes to a better society. For the continued delight of our customers.
